Local resident, entertaining his guests from the States in August: “It was my first experience going out further offshore than I had gone before as a surfer. Experiencing the clear blue water is something I’ll never forget. We stopped trolling for a moment and we all dove into the water. I could open my eyes and the conditions were amazing. I was able to see perhaps 400-500 feet laterally. We saw turtles and dolphins. I don’t have much experience fishing and I was on the boat mostly to enjoy the friendship, camaraderie and experience. But I got to tell you, when a fish is on the line and everybody gets excited, fishing can be a lot of fun. The beauty & majesty of the fish, and that they are so full of life, it’s an exciting experience. We caught dorado and enjoyed fresh fish tacos that night. Captain Eduardo was great, making sure everyone had an opportunity to catch fish. The boat accommodates 4 people, in addition to the captain.
In December, the Babbitt family of: husband, wife, their 4 y/o daughter, and her grandfather traveled to Nosara as return visitors and participated in a fishing charter with Captain Vibert. “We had a great time. I caught a 7-8 ft. long sailfish, my father caught a yellow-fin tuna, probably 25 lbs. and we ate it- great. We prepared it at our house rental. My wife caught a 30 lb wahoo which she was very excited about. The Gilded Iguana also prepared the wahoo for us that we caught. I am an experienced fisherman, I have my own boat in the States. To catch all of that in one day in the States or the Bahamas would have been an amazing day! To catch 3 different species... We also caught dorado, mahi-mahi or the dolphin fish and we saw a blue marlin all approach the boat but he didn’t take the bait, which is unusual. It was crystal clear we could see everything. Captain Vibert, from Barbados (Tico here for 35 yrs.) is great. He was fine with us bringing our daughter. It wasn’t rough and she slept a little actually. I sat up with the Captain in the tower, watching the bait, for part of the trip. Overall, just a very good experience and I would highly recommend it.” December '06

It was my first time on the water since moving here. I loved trailing my feet over the edge of the boat in the cool water and getting a new perspective on the coastline. Sports-fishing is excellent in our area! One of us caught our first fish ever, a Bonita (pictured), and later, a Yellow-Fin Tuna. We enjoyed a spectacular sunset and reluctantly returned to shore when it started getting dark. The next night I was invited over for sushi, which was simply divine!
